Holly Hunter, an American film and actress, is recognized for her outstanding performances in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. The film Piano was a huge success and won her many awards which included an Oscar. The talented actress began her acting career on the stage in various Broadway as well as Off-Broadway productions. It has been an integral part of her interest. In the fifth grade she portrayed Helen Keller. Her hearing loss was in one ear after suffering from mellitus, but didn't let this disability dampen the determination of her to become an actor. In her early years, she took classes in drama at college before moving from Pittsburgh to New York City from Pittsburgh in order to fulfill her dream. She met Beth Henley in an elevator and the two collaborated in Broadway Crimes of the Heart the first movie Hunter made. When she moved from New York to Los Angeles, Hunter tried for movie roles. A supporting role was secured for her in Swing Shift. For the last 30 years, she has appeared on numerous TV shows and films. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and the Women in Film Lucy Award.
